Hours later, the medical professionals delivered devastating news to his parents – Madan was diagnosed with a severe immune deficiency, and the only hope for his survival was an immediate bone marrow transplant, a procedure with a staggering cost of Rs. 37,30,000 ($45,118.56).
This unforeseen financial burden shook Madan’s family to the core. His father, a laborer, struggles to make ends meet for his family of four. Madan’s mother, a former maid, had to quit her job to take care of her ailing son. To cover the escalating medical expenses, they have sold all their possessions, accumulating overwhelming debt and financial hardship. Rathna, expressing the dire situation, says, “Our income barely meets the basic needs of our family, and with two children, everything changed when Madan fell ill. We are now struggling to even provide him with two meals a day.”
Madan’s health has deteriorated to the point where he has lost the ability to walk, and his overall condition continues to worsen. The loss of appetite has led to significant weight loss, compounding the challenges faced by the family.
